Everyday Dog Harness with adjustable neck and chest straps

How to Measure Your Dog for a Harness

Measure both your dog's neck and chest before choosing a harness. At WoofRoam, the Everyday Dog Harness and the harness in the Everyday Walk Kit have different size ranges, so always use the chart for the product you plan to order.

Where to measure your dog

  1. Neck: place a soft measuring tape around the base of the neck.
  2. Chest: measure around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs.
  3. Comfort: follow the product guide's allowance for two fingers to fit comfortably between the tape and your dog. Do not pull the tape tight.
  4. Write down both measurements using the same units. Check each reading again before comparing sizes.

Choose the correct dog harness size chart

The examples below show why the product matters. These are the published size S ranges, not a complete chart for every size:

Size S comparison: standalone harness and walk kit harness
Product Neck Chest
Everyday Dog Harness 11.0–15.7 in
28–40 cm
16.5–23.6 in
42–60 cm
Everyday Walk Kit harness 11.0–14.6 in
28–37 cm
16.5–20.9 in
42–53 cm

A size S in one product is therefore not interchangeable with a size S in the other. Open the full chart for your choice: Everyday Dog Harness size guide or Everyday Walk Kit size guide. Both offer XS, S, M and L. Measurements are approximate, and listed weights are a guide only.

What if neck and chest measurements suggest different sizes?

Do not select a size using the chest measurement alone or automatically size up. Contact us with both measurements and the product name before ordering so that the ranges can be checked together.

How should an adjustable dog harness fit?

After putting the harness on, fasten the buckles and adjust the neck and chest straps. Check for a comfortable fit without overtightening, and look for rubbing, excessive movement or signs that your dog is uncomfortable. Recheck the adjustments before each walk.

Start with a short, supervised session. If the harness cannot be adjusted comfortably for your dog, stop and review the size rather than relying on extra tightening.

Buying a matching walk kit? Check the collar separately

The Everyday Walk Kit includes a harness, leash, collar and poop bag dispenser. The size selection refers to the harness. The collar uses its own neck ranges, and a harness that fits does not guarantee that the included collar will fit.

Check the collar information on the matching dog walking set page and confirm the included collar and leash sizes with us before ordering. The largest listed collar range is 40–50 cm (15.7–19.7 in), which does not cover the full neck range of the size L kit harness.

Buying only the harness? Explore the adjustable Everyday Dog Harness. To prepare the rest of your outing, use our dog walking checklist.
